Judge Post: Week 5 Homework.

Questions:

1. a) Do the masks seem to clearly illustrate the theme? (Does the vanity mask look vain, art mask look artistic/creative etc.)

1. b)Looking at the sketches, materials, and the few masks that are started and finished, what, if anything, would you change about the masks to make the idea/theme more clear?

2. Are there any other materials you would advise using to further illustrate/develop the themes?

3. Do the colors fit the theme? What advice would you give about the use of colors on each mask?

Answers:

Person 1 & 2

Vanity Mask:

1. Yes looks vain,

2. Lips could use a little more color to highlight them, plus a rich purple or blue around eyes.

3. Pink color is good

Intro/Extro Mask:

1. It suits its name well.

2. Erica suggested if I use flowers to hide the small eye. Make them like orchids, black orchids. She also suggested more of the lines of material on the right, to make it appear more sad,

3. Maybe pull in a little bit of yellow on the extrovert side.

Machine Mask:

1. Definitely looks machine. I think it may be your best one when finished.

2. Wires, Circuitry, washers

3. Copper, silver, green colors

Nature Mask:

1. Nature mask looks natural.

2. Using feathers/wood.

3. Like the green trim and beads dangling on mask.

Art Mask:

1. It still needs something. Not sure if it conveys art. Looks like a bleeding skull.

2. Maybe paintbrushes just in the dip on the top. Maybe three of them, with the tallest in the center.

3. Colors are okay.

Comedian Mask:

Everything looks great.

Other Criticism or Opinions:

Love the sequins on it (Intro/Extro Mask) and the contrasting material.

Metal mask is great base color

My notes on feedback/ What I plan to change:

Vanity Mask needs painted a little more. The Intro/Extro mask mostly just needs finished. Need to begin/finish Nature Mask. Art mask- thought bubble with copper wire. I want to brainstorm on how to make the art theme more clear. The Comedian Mask also needs finished. I still need to ask more people questions and ask for advice on the Art Mask.

New and Improved 5 week plan for the rest of the semester:

Week 5: Gather tips, ideas, take notes. Ask questions about sketches, masks, and themes to classmates. Continue working on unfinished masks.

Week 6: Machine Mask finished. Into/Extro Mask Finished.

Week 7: Comedian Mask started, Nature Mask Started

Week 8: All masks are finished. Touch ups and last bits of cleaning up. Sketches for Final photos.

Week 9: Shoot photos. Upload. Edit/touch up in photoshop. Print.

Week 10: Final 6 photos completed.

I may be taking photos of some along the way due to mixed schedules of my models.
